Jobs For 13 Year Olds

While younger teens might not be able to legally take on part-time work in larger establishments, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t more than enough job opportunities out there for those that go beyond just baby-sitting. After all, a little bit of creativity can pay off big when it comes to your bank account! And there’s never been a better time to start brainstorming about what sort of part-time work you can manage.

When it comes to today’s technology, jobs for 13 year olds means something a lot different than it did even just 20 years ago. Most teens know more about computers than their parents, and it is even possible that simple web design, computer repair, or blogging is a better choice than taking on a paper route. For teens who know a little bit about building websites or helping older people get their computers hooked up to printers, offer simple computer services at an hourly rate. Starting out with computers is also a great idea, because it will lead to a lot of work down the line.

But if you are looking for jobs for 13 year olds that don’t involve technology, there are still a bunch of choices out there. Most 13 year-olds know that baby-sitting is an okay job to have, often quite profitable, but what about pet-sitting? Whether it is taking care of a dog or group of dogs for the afternoon or simply offering to do dog-walking on weekends, you can come up with a number of great ways to make money involving the care of animals. Just be sure to check with your parents before you decide to open a doggie daycare center at your house, of course. Mom and dad might prefer that you keep your work to taking care of animals in other people’s homes, and that’s just fine.

For particularly studious 13 year olds, the option to be a peer tutor is always there, too. Many parents would happily pay for their child to receive some extra help with classes, so if you are a straight-A student looking for a way to make some extra dough, consider going into the tutoring business. Best yet, you can offer to assist younger children with their courses, which is sometimes easier than giving tutoring to your friends or people your age.

When it comes to jobs for 13 year olds, being an entrepreneur is also a huge part of the game today. After all, there’s no age limit on having a good idea, and younger and younger children are coming up with great concepts. Whether it is designing a blog that is hugely popular or making cool t-shirts and selling them online via a site like Etsy, there is always something that teens can do. And with some of the best fashion bloggers in the world getting flown to Paris three years before they can even legally drive, it’s never been a better time to get creative like that!

So if you don’t feel like going the paper route or baby-sitting route but are eager to make some extra money now, consider all of the ways that being a bit tech-savvy can help you out, and remember that a little bit of creativity is always the key to finding a way to make money that is both fun and rewarding!
