It&#8217;s definitely a fun job however it is challenging!</p> <p>An accredited member of the American Camping Association, The Hiram House is a non-profit, co-educational, interracial and intercultural facility. Located 15 miles southeast of downtown Cleveland, OH, Hiram House has been in continual operation since its inception in 1896. 172 acres of beautiful woodlands is the home of Hiram House Camp in the community of Moreland Hills.</p> <p>In accordance with our philosophy, we strive to provide children with an understanding of the American way of life and the values and principles, which will help them develop into responsible, interested citizens. We believe in building character through active participation and aim to give children a healthy, wholesome and stimulating experience in the out of doors through living, playing, and cooperating in the beautiful environment of our natural woods.</p> <p>We are looking for engergetic, hardworking, sensitive and responsible staff members who can dedicate their summer to guiding and instructing children in our programs. Our staff is expected to work long hours and at the same time be caring, nurturing, excited, enthusiastic, dedicated, flexible, patient, happy and smiling! Remember, you are here for the kids! Believe us when we say, there are many benefits from the hard work, commitment to our campers and dedication to the job!</p> <p>Who does Hiram House Camp serve?</p> <p>Hiram House operates three separate summer programs at the same time. On any given day at camp, there are nearly 400 campers, counselor staff and administrative staff on the property. We strive to give everyone a rewarding experience. What follows is a bit of background on each of our programs.</p> <p>Our Resident Camp is the backbone and purpose of Hiram House, serving approximately 500 children a summer. A majority of these campers are disadvantaged and come from foster care, single parent and low-income inner-city families. Sessions are 6 days long. Campers ages 6-13 live in log cabins and platform tent units in the woods. Staff members live with and supervise campers throughout the session.</p> <p>Day Camp is another vital aspect in our camping program. Comprised of children ages 6-11 from the surrounding communities, the program runs Monday through Friday, 9am to 4pm. Every session, the children participate in a pre-scheduled overnight so that they too can experience the satisfaction and fun of rustic living.</p> <p>Jr. Day camp is our smallest program serving 5 and 6 year olds from the surrounding communities. Jr. Day Camp is a very closely supervised program, which runs Monday through Friday, 9:30am to 2:30pm.</p> <p>Our staff to camper ratio is maintained at 1:8. For Junior Day that ratio is 1:6.</p> <p><span class="caps">POSITIONS</span> <span class="caps">AVAILABLE</span> <span class="caps">FOR</span> <span class="caps">THE</span> <span class="caps">SUMMER</span> OF 2009 INCLUDE: <span class="caps">COUNSELORS</span> for all three programs, <span class="caps">INSTRUCTORS</span> for Archery, Arts & Crafts, Canoeing, Challenge, Climbing Wall, Music, Nature, Performing Arts, Survival Skills, Animal/Plant Care and Horseback Riding.
