Intern for the 47th legislative District Democrats

Are you political junkie? Are looking to get involved and make impact in the state political scene? If so, the 47th Legislative District Democrats are seeking qualified applicants to serve as interns this fall to staffs of State Representatives Pat Sullivan, Geoff Simpson and the Victory 2010! team.
Specific responsibilities of the Intern include but are not limited to:
• Opposition research, and other research projects as needed
• Work on earned media events, such as town hall meetings
• Assist in organizing campaign events
• Assist in an administrative role as needed
• Assist in voter contact and get out the vote
• Assist in the organization and compilation of campaign data
• Volunteer Recruitment
• Voter Registration
Successful applicants will demonstrate the following qualifications:
• Desire to effect change and commitment to stay involved until November 2nd
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Strong work ethic and ability to handle multiple projects
• Ability to learn quickly and accomplish goals as set forth by the campaign
• Results-oriented, dependable, and proactive
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc) is a must
• Can accomplish tasks independently or in a team environment.
Intern time commitments may vary and are negotiable, however, we request a minimum of 15 hours of commitment. At the end of the internship, interns will be able to include the experience on any college application or resume, use staff as references, and they will receive letters of recommendation from campaign staff to use at their discretion. College credit is available upon permission of the Professor and College Department.
Desired Start Date: Summer/Fall
There are many benefits to interning with political campaigns, including developing fine-tuned public relations skills and hands-on political experience. Some of America’s greatest public figures got their start as interns on political campaigns. This is a great first experience for anyone interested.
