BACKGROUND:

The National Constitution Center, located on Philadelphia’s Independence Mall, is the first museum in the world dedicated to honoring and explaining the U.S. Constitution through more than 100 interactive and multi-media exhibits, artifacts and film. The Center also houses the Annenberg Center for Education and Outreach, which serves as a hub for national constitutional education, debates, teacher resources and as a home for visiting scholars and experts.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Hosts will play a significant role in providing a memorable experience for all people who visit the Center. Superior Customer Service, which will be second to none in Philadelphia, will be provided to every visitor, every day. To ensure that our staff is capable of providing visitors this level of excellence, each staff member will receive dynamic and ongoing training, as well as being equipped with the physical tools necessary to accomplish our customer service goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Provide general information and way finding for visitors * Communication link with security and the Floor Supervisor regarding: lost children, first aid, lost & found, and visitor concerns * Provide general information regarding the theater show and exhibit experience * Ensure that the theater schedule is followed * Confirm that all visitors are properly ticketed * Monitor the flow of groups, ensuring proper arrival and departure times * Coordinate with chaperones to ensure proper behavior of groups and clean-up of lunchroom * Collect, store, and return visitor coats, ensuring their security * Ensure that all group coat bags are together and clearly labeled * Operate a cash system for collection of coat check fees * Coordinate the safe and efficient evacuation of visitors, in the case of emergency * Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Hosts must be outgoing, friendly, smiling, comfortable with a diverse staff and diverse visitor base, including visitors with special needs * Able to lift boxes and coat bags, able to push/pull wheeled, but heavy, carts, able to stand for long periods, able to work outdoors in all weather conditions * Able to problem-solve, deal with angry visitors, feel empowered in making visitor-related decisions, remain calm in emergencies, and handle multi-tasks and information * Able to work weekends
