Potomac River Running Store (=PR=) is seeking part-time Sales Associates to work in our Washington, DC., location in Cleveland Park, and/or our Arlington, Virginia location in Ballston. =PR= is a family-owned business with locations in Northwest DC, Arlington, VA, Reston, VA, Ashburn, VA, and Burke, VA. We are specifically seeking individuals with availability on evenings and weekends in the DC and Arlington locations, though a few daytime shifts may also be available. Applicants able to work 15-20 hours/week are preferred. (If you are interested in another =PR= location, feel free to contact us. We also doing limited hiring in our other locations.)
The ideal candidate will be an avid runner with a strong work ethic and pride in customer service. Prior retail experience in a specialty store or athletic store is beneficial but not required. In particular this may be a great opportunity for a local area college student, someone seeking a second job, a teacher, or a parent or retiree returning to the workforce. This is not a summer or seasonal job – you must be available to work into the fall.
We offer flexible scheduling, great discounts, a fun working environment and an opportunity for advancement based on experience and performance. You must have a HS diploma, some running experience, and be willing to work at least four weekend days/month as well as some evenings. These positions are part-time, but will allow the right person to expand his/her role to a full-time position and/or have the opportunity to advance to a managerial or product specialist role. After completing training, this is a key-holding position.
=PR= will provide complete training on our video gait analysis process and how to properly fit customers for the appropriate running and walking footwear. After an intensive training period, new Associates will be expected to have a full knowledge of our products and processes and be able to manage multiple tasks and/or help multiple customers simultaneously.
Job duties include:
- Perform video gait analysis and help customers select the appropriate shoes
- Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the technical aspects of our products (shoes, apparel, electronics, etc.)
- Learn about common running and walking injuries and training regimens and respond to customer questions on these issues and appropriate associated products
- Receive, manage, and restock inventory within and among stores
- Perform light housekeeping duties
Job Requirements:
- Must be reliable and on-time
- Must have a HS diploma or equivalent
- Must have some running experience or background (competitive experience is not expected, but exposure to the sport is)
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. and spend significant time on your feet
- Must be detail-oriented
- Must be friendly, outgoing, and customer-focused
- Must be able to handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy
