Who does Hiram House Camp serve?

Hiram House operates three separate summer programs at the same time. On any given day at camp, there are nearly 400 campers, counselor staff and administrative staff on the property. We strive to give everyone a rewarding experience. What follows is a bit of background on each of our programs.

Our Resident Camp is the backbone and purpose of Hiram House, serving approximately 500 children a summer. A majority of these campers are disadvantaged and come from foster care, single parent and low-income inner-city families. Sessions are 6 days long. Campers ages 6-13 live in log cabins and platform tent units in the woods. Staff members live with and supervise campers throughout the session.

Day Camp is another vital aspect in our camping program. Comprised of children ages 6-11 from the surrounding communities, the program runs Monday through Friday, 9am to 4pm. Every session, the children participate in a pre-scheduled overnight so that they too can experience the satisfaction and fun of rustic living.

Jr. Day camp is our smallest program serving 5 and 6 year olds from the surrounding communities. Jr. Day Camp is a very closely supervised program, which runs Monday through Friday, 9:30am to 2:30pm.

Our staff to camper ratio is maintained at 1:8. For Junior Day that ratio is 1:6.
